Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service carefully before making a reservation with Carrent. By reserving a vehicle, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Eligibility

• Renters must be at least 21 years old at the time of rental
• A valid Philippine driver's license (held for at least 1 year) is required
• Foreign renters must present a valid international driver's permit alongside their foreign license
• A valid government-issued ID must be presented at pick-up

2. Reservation & Payment

A non-refundable reservation fee of ₱500 is required to confirm your booking. This fee will be deducted from your total rental price upon pick-up.

3. Vehicle Pick-Up & Return

• The vehicle must be picked up and returned at the agreed location and time
• Late returns may incur additional charges at the daily rate prorated per hour
• The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as received
• The vehicle must be returned with a full tank of fuel (full-to-full policy)

4. Self-Drive Rentals

For self-drive rentals, the renter is fully responsible for the vehicle during the rental period. This includes:

• Compliance with all traffic laws and regulations
• Any parking fines, traffic violations, or toll charges incurred
• Safe operation of the vehicle at all times

5. With Driver Rentals

When an assigned driver option is selected, Carrent will provide a licensed driver. The driver fee is:

• ₱1,000 for the first 10 hours
• ₱200 per hour for each succeeding hour beyond 10

The driver is solely responsible for the operation of the vehicle. The renter should not instruct the driver to violate traffic laws.

6. Security Deposit

A refundable security deposit is collected at pick-up, separate from the reservation fee:

• Economy / Hatchback: ₱5,000
• Sedan / Standard: ₱5,000
• SUV / Premium: ₱10,000
• Van: ₱10,000

The deposit is refunded within 3–5 business days after the vehicle is returned in good condition.

7. Insurance & Liability

All vehicles carry third-party liability insurance. In the event of an accident:

• Contact Carrent's support line immediately
• Do not leave the scene without documenting the incident
• The renter is liable for damages not covered by insurance up to the security deposit amount

8. Prohibited Uses

The renter agrees not to:

• Allow unauthorized persons to drive the vehicle
• Use the vehicle for illegal activities
• Take the vehicle outside of Cebu without prior written approval
• Use the vehicle for commercial purposes (e.g., ridesharing, delivery)
• Drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs

9. Cancellation Policy

• Cancellations made more than 48 hours before pick-up: full rental refund (reservation fee non-refundable)
• Cancellations made within 48 hours: one-day rental fee may apply
• No-shows: full rental amount forfeited

10. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Any disputes shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.
